If you hadn’t noticed yet, Labor Day weekend is upon us which means there will be a million and 1 things going on all around town, not the least of which is the annual round of Drive-Invasion madness at the Starlight Six drive-in. The lineup this year is particularly strong as it boasts performances from not only Jack Oblivian & the Tennessee Tearjerkers, and the Dex Romweber Duo, but the one and only Roky Erickson headlines, bringing the madness to a fine point. The Texas psych. legend and former 13th Floor Elevatorssinger/guitarist has a new band in-tow that’s playing a reportedly rockier set than what he brought to Athens last year.

Drive-Invasion doesn’t get started until the morning of Sunday, September 4, but the party gets started on Sat. Sept. 3 at the Star Bar where the official pre-party kicks off with performances by the Woggles, Howlies, Tiger! Tiger!, Myopic I in the main room. Downstairs is the Intoxicators, Jade Lemons & the Crimson Lust, Paint Fumes, DJ Rock Sox and more. $5 (before 10 p.m.). $8 after. Music starts at 9 p.m.
