Savannah Stopover @ TEDxCreativeCoast = A Music/Art/Technology Experience Worth Sharing

On Friday, May 13, music, art and technology collides at the Jepson Center of the Arts for the closing
concert of the second annual TEDxCreativeCoast conference. Sponsored by Savannah Stopover,
Creative Coast, Telfair Museums and Pabst Blue Ribbon, the show will round out a full day of
Savannah’s own rendition of TED.

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in
California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple
initiatives. In that spirit, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to
share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark
deep discussion and connection in a small group. A full list of speakers and the program for the sold-
out conference are available at http://tedxcreativecoast.com/.

Come nightfall, Savannah Stopover takes over the front atrium of the Jepson to present a musical triple
bill representative of “The New South.” Local favorite General Oglethorpe & the Panhandlers opens
the night at 9pm, followed by hot regional act Little Tybee from Atlanta. GIVERS of Lafayette, LA
headlines at 11pm. Named the ‘Best of What’s Next’ by PASTE Magazine and a ‘Band to Watch’ by
Stereogum, the influential blog describes their music as “packed with that sort of psychedelic
buoyancy, homegrown exoticism…and rattling optimism/joy.”

To enhance the music experience, a team of talented local artists – Dr Z, Hebermehl and theotherfabio
– will re-display their much-hyped interactive art projection Social iLLumination that debuted at the
Jepson during the Pulse Art and Technology Festival in January. Once the music starts, light-projected
animation will develop as a random stream of consciousness by the contributing tweets from concert
goers.
