Local Sketch Comedy Troupe Holds First Season DVD Release Party at Carrboro Arts Center
Carrboro, North Carolina – April 30, 2011 – Carrboro based online sketch comedy outfit I’m Leaving You is hosting a free party at the Carrboro Arts Center (300 E Main St # G) in honor of their first season DVD.
The self-produced, surrealistic brand of comedy is led by noted liar and scoundrel, Dan Bonné, who conceived the idea shortly after graduation from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, in 2007. Bonne’s sketch video idea originated after he was pro
mpted to shout a list of “things that are funny” into a video camera. Since then, the idea has grown to include Randy Skidmore, a local freelance web designer who owns and operates Subpar Design (subpardesign.com) and Justin Edge, a writer from Wilmington, North Carolina who co-founded a live creative reading series in downtown Wilmington called The Cure for the Common Reading. Bonné met both Skidmore and Edge while attending UNCW.
The Carrboro event will screen eleven of the group’s favorite sketches, some new, some old. The evening will also mark the group’s first venture into live comedy. Throughout the evening there will be light performances by local musicians as well as beverages and homemade hors d’œuvres. For persons over the age of 21, wine will be offered as well as beer, compliments of Pabst Blue Ribbon. The Season One DVD, which contains three 25-minute episodes, is available with a donation of any amount. The doors open at 8:30pm, and the group promises plenty of laughs shortly after. This is a free event but with limited seating. If you’re planning to attend, please email dan to indicate your attendance.
