“HELL NAW” is a quarterly sound clash of indie / punk / rock / & hip hop all jam packed into the same venue on the same night. We toss caution to the wind and let the cards fall where they may…leaving the crowd scratching their heads and saying HELL NAW…
Performers Include: Nappy Roots / the Wheeler Boys / Sonen / Jack of Hearts Plus special guest DJ’s Sol Messiah & Natural Born Swiller
…Since Nappy Roots entered the music scene in 1998, they have remained real, humble, talented guys with inherent, undeniable southern swagger. After the international success of /Watermelon, Chicken, & Grits/, selling over 3 million albums, the members of Nappy Roots were flying high while still acutely aware of how far it could be to the bottom should they fall. It is that practical and genuine presence of mind that helped them sustain touring as a group these last ten years. Building a vastly loyal fan-base nationwide, fans and friends can be used interchangeably when referring to their army of followers.
Critic’s Pick “Best Electronic Band of Atlanta 2010” – Creative Loafing Reader’s Pick “Best Electronic Band of Atlanta 2010” – Creative Loafing SONEN is an indie-electro-dance-rock band from Atlanta. Their dark and powerful melodies, harmonic vocals, and hypnotic beats combine to push the sonic limits of indie rock while maintaining a solid electronic edge. The group was described by Frequency Magazine as “self serious but danceable, polished but organic, SONEN’s sound is made up of all the right choices; Joy Division-esque post punk borrowed previously by Interpol mixes with something like the electro-pop bliss of The Postal Service to give the band a sonic identity all its own.” SONEN’s live shows are dynamic events, complete with a light show, an ecstatic dance floor, and the occasional pack of dancing robots.
JACK OF HEARTS
Jack of Hearts are a four-piece pop ensemble bursting at the seams of the Atlanta music scene. They mold songs from the ore of heartbreak, polished until gleaming, from the depths of love and heights of despair. Deftly combining vocals and instrumentation, their sound has been compared to Grizzly Bear, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, and The Beach Boys.
